yooooooo peeps, sorry for not getting this out faster. because 1) blogger is freaking annoying 2) the notes for a single piece is so long that the moment i look at it i was like : aaaaa..so much?! and the result is that i drag and drag. so i'm really sorry about that. in order to amend, i'll be putting up notes for each piece one by one, in sequence of the repetoire each day, will try to put up more. anyway..enough of my endless chatter and on to the main topic.
Starflight Overture
-semiquavers throughout the piece must be clear and precise, remember to count and don't rush through it. all notes must be as even as possible.
-when playing high notes (particularly high C) do remember to take note of intonation, don't go flat by overblowing, simply because you are excited by the tempo xD (LOL..) must always keep in mind to keep balance.
-no matter how fast the piece is going, basics must remember (balance, metronome in brain, articulation, dynamics etc..) the same goes for other pieces.
-always come in and end semiquavers (as well as notes) together throughout the piece
-for clarinet's melody at bar 33 (and so on) 3rds must come out, as well as 2nds. remembered what mr lim said that the 3rds must play louder than the 2nds and the 2nds must play louder than the 1sts? apply it. maintain the harmony between the chords of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd parts respectively during the holding notes.
-bar 61 : 3rds and sax's melody! count and play in time (don't dodge the meteors) pick up to bar 61 must be powerful.
-1 bar before 69 die die MUST strictly start having 1n 2n 3n 4n in your brain. play your notes short, precise and accented.
-pick up to bar 77 (all semiquavers must be even) must keep counting, don't hold the notes tied together for too long. first rhythm of melody is different from second.
-watch out for the molto rit. and rit. throughout piece.
-3 bars after 113, the pick up must come in together and play more firmly. 3rds and 2nds remember to play your crotchets in a rising manner (crescendo as you play each note) and decrescendo, same goes for the 1st clarinet melody, crescendo after each 'stage'.
-bar 123 pick up from 3rds must be strong and firm, pick up notes into another bar don't be late. 9/8 rhythm very dangerous (must always have triplets in mind) 2nds rhythm very important. all in all 1st, 2nd, 3rd parts must all fit into each other. 3rds and french horn melody must play louder, but don't crack your sound.for the slow part, as long as have the melody, must come out. (the rhythm parts must have have momentum - gives a 'floating' feeling)
thats all =) most importantly..look at mr lim. haha..for every score also the same. so ya..starflight is out already. MUST READ A..make sure you all go note down on your respective scores. the rest i'll try to type it out faster.
TICKET SALES..MY DARLINGS TICKET SALES!!! go and sell more, because its not enough. you all wouldn't want to see a half empty hall right T.T.. so everyone please do your part and try to sell more. sell to your mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, grandauntie, granduncle, neighbour, friends, teachers anyone will do. its less than a week to our concert, try your best! other than the tickets..(which is very very important) practice your instrument! there are still many parts we have to work on. its our first very own concert in our band history, so no matter what. we must CHIONG AAAAAAAAAAA..
juniors don't be discouraged or sad (huh?! reaction) that the seniors will be playing centuria with all of you for the concert and the exchange (which reminds me that i'll have nag about it later..) its still a good exposure for you all and we are still on the stage =) just that seniors are sitting beside you all >.< this means you all still have to practice harder ok? don't give up and keep on improving yourself.
EXCHANGE TOMORROW..woots. do remember all the key points for the various scores we are playing tomorrow. give it your best shot and treat it seriously as if its the concert. just remembered what mr lim mentioned about all of the scores you all be fine. MEMORIZE YOUR MAJOR AND MINOR SCALES..haha =))
