(for people who havent read it in the band web)
Band,
our motto has always been "Passionate Band Spirit" but don't you all feel that there seems to have no more passion in the band. If you guys have been noticing, ever since SYF, the discipline and the attitude of the band have been going down. With the poor discipline and attitude, it is going to pull down our music. So what if we are good in music, without the right attitude, we are nothing.
When was the last time we got a 100% in our attendance? How many times did we get a 100%? Twice, thrice? Only when we have other conductors coming to conduct or when we have an important event like the band convention? We understand that it's hard to get a 100% since there might be some people who are unwell, but for those who give excuses like they are tired, overslept or have to go to work, PLEASE think about the others who make the effort to come.
Take the speech day rehearsal held yesterday for example , only 31 members came.For those who came, we are very pleased. For those who have their personal reasons, it is okay.However, for those who didn't come simply beacuse they are tired,
THINK ABOUT THIS :
You think the members who came aren't? The majors aren't? Everyone is equally tired as you are but we do make the effort so why can't you?
With this little number of people, you think the band can sound good? You guys are just wasting the rest of the band's effort as the band won't be able to play well. Half of the band under the scorching sun while the other 19 doing what? sleeping?
Some say that that since it's the first rehearsal, there is no need to come as we won't play much but if the first rehearsal was not that important, why would be asking you guys to come?
If the band can have 100% on important events, why isin't there 100% on the speech day rehearsal. It is also an important event. The fact is, you guys simply don't care.
The seniors have brought up the band to a higher standard but now it's back to square one. There is only 40 days to ADDICTION 2 and if all of you still have that i-dont-care attitude, don't feel sad about the outcome as that is the effort you guys put in.
When u all say u all want to have a successful concert, don't talk only. Do it.
Action speaks louder than words. Practice hard and give it the best shot.
To have a successful addiction u need everyone's effort.If that one person, just that ONE person plays wrongly, or goes out of tune,the whole band will be affected.REMEMBER, THE BAND IS AS STRONG AS IT'S WEAKEST PLAYER. So do the best you can and practice hard.
Understand this, when it is not necessary, we do not ask you to come for so many practices but now, when ADDICTION 2 is so near. Is it still not necessary?
Currently Mr Lim is in Japan and will not be coming for band for a period of time.Does that mean you guys don't have to work hard? You guys want Mr Lim to feel disappointed when he returns? If no, then you know what to do.
Time is really running out and we have just the 40 days to change everything. We hope everyone will reflect upon themselves and do something about it. Remember, 40 days left. It's less than two months.
